PLANTLANTA STATE UNIVERSITY
Plantlanta State University is a program within our local underserved elementary, middle, and high schools that teaches students how to live more sustainably through experiences. PSU is a 1-day school takeover where we will replace the curriculum for the day with hands-on projects to garner experiential learning.
Our goal is to educate children and young adults on the capabilities and importance of being able to grow your own food, caring for our environment, and inspiring their peers to do the same. With the implementation of Plantlanta State University, we aim to ignite a positive shift by exposing the youth to a more progressive quality of life, in turn, creating a ripple in their family's lineage for generations to come. We want to motivate them to become social impact leaders within their group of peers and in their communities by equipping them with the skills and knowledge to be strong examples of how to live sustainably. PSU is designed to develop students into critical thinkers who are technologically advanced and able to compete in a global society, cultivate lifelong learners by utilizing relevant real-world experiences, and promote student wellness in a nurturing environment.
We've partnered with Atlanta's most innovative farmers, organizations, and social entrepreneurs to bring students a hands-on learning experience that will inspire, encourage, and motivate them to promote food, environmental, and social justice within our urban communities. They will be participating in workshops, classes, and demonstrations that are rooted in one of the following:
Health & Wellness
Urban Farming & Community Gardening
Recycle, Reuse, Reduce
Sustainable Art & Music
Shop for Good
Literally, 100% of sales go directly into educating our underserved children. In order to sustain our work and our community, we must hire farmers, organizations, and social entrepreneurs to lead demonstrations and teach hands-on workshops that empower and inspire our kids through experiential project-based learning. We're so grateful to be a part of a community that comes together to support our youth. Thank you all so much for your support!
